UP THE IRONS!

I saw Iron Maiden perform live at Newcastle's Metro radio arena on the 17th December 2006.

I can say safely that their set made up for having to sit thru nearly an hour of Trivium before hand. I have little respect for someone who feels it necessary to say fuck after every second word.

Lauren Harris's short support set was really good in terms of sound quality but I do suspect this may have something down to being on tour with daddy (Maiden's bassist). Her set wasn't anything spectacular but it was tolerable more so then Trivium.

Anyhoo back to Maiden, when you see these guys perform live you realise precisely why it is that they have lasted as long as they have. The show was incredible and despite having seated tickets rather then being in the thick of it all I had an awesome time.
Highlights included Eddie rising up in a massive tank turret from the back of the stage and Fear of the Dark! There is something incredible in expereinceing a sold out gig singing their hearts out in reply to Bruce's encouragement. Not to mention the whole arena chanting Maiden at the top of their collective lungs.
Fantastic!
I love the community atmosphere at a Maiden gig with atleast three generations if not four making eye contact and bursting into chants of Maiden, Maiden, Maiden as the house lights went down!

UP THE IRONS!
